This is not a final model. It needs some nose holes, and some other small adjustments. Click here to se some screen shot in process of modeling. This is done with Max 3.1 as a box modeling. What you see is just a mash model with no texture and bump adjustments. The camera in final render will be placed like on these two images above, just under and in the front of the Oscar. I chose this angle because of the Oscar's strong jaw.

Any comments are more than welcome.

Another update...  I just started to make some textures. This is only the paint, no bumps, reflection, spec........The texture is going to be projected from the side. Fish is mainly flat model so there will be not much streching of the texture.. Of course you can do this another way but why to complicate when you can adjust camera angle a little and get a perfect image.
This is mainly finished texture. It needs some eye glossiness and maybe some chest fins texture adjustment.
Now to try to make some under water scene. Oscar lives in tropical water. Not very clear. And a lots of trees rocks, roots. Not very deep so some caustic light with noise map for projector will be great. Maybe some strong water plants?

comments...

This is near the end of the process. It needs some back fin adjustments. And some small water bugs or other small dusty things swimming in the water.
This image is rendered with Brazil r/s. Notice that the image is more dirty. Maybe it needs some more adjustment.

Brazil adjustments:
Image is 640x480 pixels.
Bucketing Options - size 64
Image Sampling Control - min 0, max 1
Depth of Field Sampling - Focal Blur 0.01
Render time 5 hours on
PII 300, 300MB RAM, Intel I740 3D 8MB

by undersampling you can get image in much less time but quality is a little lover...  Try to experiment a little.
rendered with Brazil r/s
final image This is the end of the road for modeling and texturing of this oscar fish. Now it will be nice to see that this fish is moving.

I hope that this will be done soon.

Feedback will be greatly appreciated.
